WORKING WITH ROMANIAN RESCUE DOGS

BONNIE AND BILLIE: HOW TO CALM DOGS DOWN WITH VISITORS.

These two beautiful Romanian rescues can be anxious with new people. Billy hides his anxiety with excitement, while Bonnie barks to keep people at a distance. We met Bonnie outside so that she could investigate me at a distance, then once she was comfortable we came inside and I ignored her until she felt confident enough to approach me. You can see that she finally felt easy enough to move from next to the safety of her mum to lying next to me. Ignoring dogs by avoiding eye contact, while breathing calmly and steadily helps reduce both excitement and anxiety. Trying to touch an excited dog who seems pleased to see visitors tends to take them up a notch, so only having contact once they're completely calm helps them manage visits more easily. Both dogs are very connected to their owners. It was lovely to work with them all 😊 #AnxiousDog #ReactiveDog #DogBehaviouristLincolnshire #DogTrainingLincoln #ThinkingDogCisForCalm #DogBehaviourSolutions #HowToCalmYourDog #FernEmberDogBehaviour
